Te
Puru offers the best of both worlds – the raw beauty
of natural pebble and sand beaches and bush settings, with
prolific fishing areas; and for those who hanker for a faster
pace of life, Thames is just 15 minutes away with plenty
of café and shopping options. |
| |
With
the Hauraki Gulf a breeding ground for snapper, kahawai, kingfish,
scallops and mussels, Te Puru is a major drawcard for keen
fishers. A boat ramp is conveniently located just around corner
from Te Puru Holiday Park, and further along is Waikawau,
with a sheltered fresh water stream launch and retrieve boat
ramp, making boating very safe and easy. And if you don't
have a boat, there is still really good fishing off the beach.
Locals also have great success fishing
from kayaks. |

Just
a few minutes walk from Te Puru Holiday Park is a fresh water
swimming hole – the perfect way to stay cool on a hot
day and a popular spot for families. Or enjoy the beach and
all that it offers, situated within 100m of the camp. For
parents who prefer fresh, shallow water for their younger
children, the camp borders a stream – an idyllic place
to rest and enjoy the scenery. |

The
beauty of a self contained setting like Te Puru Holiday Park
is the emphasis on good old fashioned family values. Families
mingle freely and strong friendships are forged. There’s
always plenty of people around to supervise children and play
areas are centrally located for maximum visibility, so everyone
can relax and enjoy themselves. Enhancing this community ambiance,
is the bowling club next door to the grounds, with its top
ranked lawn bowl greens and a convivial community bar. The
Holiday Park runs an annual fishing competition, always a
source of great fun and competition!
Open playing fields give Dad’s plenty of opportunity
to set up active games for groups of children and there’s
no shortage of options for entertainment and physical activity.

For
those who enjoy nature walks, a bush walk is only minutes
from the camp and climbs through the mountains showcasing
some amazing New Zealand natives. Other must-see spots include
a Kauri Walk, Butterfly House and Goldmine Tours. |
| |
Thames
is a short drive (15 mins) and boasts Goldfields Shopping
Centre, cafes, movies and restaurants. The area has a rich
history, including goldmining, and there’s plenty of
charming options to explore. |
